crafting decor: table centerpieces

(we also found a faygo bottle which is a michigan brand from my childhood)

it took me a while to gather enough of the elements for these centerpieces (at affordable prices that is) but i finally have hunted down enough vintage pop bottles and hankies to pair as centerpieces for our wedding reception on the family farm...and yes, i'm from michigan so it's called pop sillies ;)

last year we were on a weekend trip to southern virginia while we were still living in DC and we stumbled upon a whole cache of these pop bottles at an antique shop on our way out of town (there's a couple extra on clearance in my shop if you want one for a vase of your own!). i'd been thinking then of using those blue bell jars but they can get so pricey and john, a dr. pepper fan, convinced me these would be a more manly but still stylish compromise. he was right.

it has been my task since to track down vintage hankies for the bottles to sit on and i finally found this batch on ebay...all for just $16 bucks! we're just going to cover all the tables with butcher's paper or perhaps rented white linens if we can swing it and then line each table with the hankies and a pop bottle on each. the flowers are all coming from my mother's garden. while peonies are my favorite by far, they will be out of season and she usually grows rows and rows of zinnias—i'm trying to convince her to put in a few ranunculus if possible though too as i think their blooms are so gorgeous in their fullness and understated grace.

Those are great! I love the centerpiece idea. Wedding with such unique, personal touches are the best in my opinion!! I also love ranunculas. If I could have had them at my wedding I would have, but then we didn't look into it a lot and I don't know if it was hard to get them at the right time I needed them in Florida, at a decent price.

I can't wait to see it all put together! Such a great idea!! Aubrey purchased a few bottles at one of our first sales and I have just had them sitting in the kitchen window wondering what to do with them!

cool finds! i love vintage pop bottles and bottle machine.. they are so much better than their modern day plastic and aluminium counterparts. it would be fun to fill them with coloured water! ;)

How pretty!! I love the idea!

We made our centerpieces too! We made bowls out of old records and filled them with flowers and a candle in a hurricane lamp. They looked really nice, and a lot of people got to take one home. My mom keeps hers out all the time :)
