a clutch and me rambling on

my clutch for the wedding came in the mail today! i placed a custom order with jennifer ladd as i'd been coveting her creations ever since i first found out about etsy. i wanted the clutch to be a big splash of color against the simple cream dress but still in keeping with the sweet vintage look so i had it made using Anna Maria Horner's square dance dobby dot fabric in the blue colorway. i love how it came out and wanted to start carrying it around immediately but alas, i must put it away for now and save it for the big day!

and now for the rambling on bit (you're excited, i know!):

in not so great news, we are being affected by the major water main break that has caused a state of emergency in the Boston area and there is a strict order to boil all drinking water for an as yet undetermined amount of time while conserving as much as we can too! what's odd is that we were right in the town where the pipe burst as we were shopping for a wedding suit for john today, but we never heard that anything was amiss until we got back home. i do hope they can fix it soon...so far they don't know whether it will be a matter of days or weeks! it certainly makes one realize how much we depend on things we take for granted!

i've also found out that i have something called PF syndrome which has been causing the knee pain i've been experiencing for several months. i never had any injury, it's just a naturally occuring condition in some young women which makes the knee cap move in such a way that causes a lot of pain, definitely not the end of the world though! after spending all of yesterday morning and some of the afternoon at the orthopedist's office getting x-rays and a few excruciating tests done to confirm the diagnosis (i have never yelled that loudly in a doctor's office and was a bit embarrassed...), i now can go to a physical therapist who will teach me some exercises to strengthen certain muscles that will in turn help the knee cap to move correctly and thus...no more pain! i'm not supposed to run anymore though, ever, and i've got to do the PT exercises every single day or it will go back to being wonky.

not terribly facinating reading that last bit, i know, but it's been this huge ordeal for me over the past several months and i'm so relieved to finally have an answer and a treatment!!

Oh, I'm really sorry about your knee cap. At least, you have some idea about what is ailing you, and a remedy for it. It would be so not good...if there was nothing to be done. I hope that you start to feel better. Thanks for sharing. Now, we can send prayers and positive thoughts your way.

thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. i was feeling a little down to learn that it will be a lifelong thing, but you're exactly right: it's good to know what it is and that it's treatable..it could be worse and i thank god it isn't!

It's always good to find out why something is bothering you. Sounds painful, I hope the phys therapy helps lots! :)

Oh no! I hope you start to feel better soon. :( Sometimes it helps just knowing what it is, and being able to put a name with it.

I'm no stranger to lifelong physical problems, so I know how it feels. I wish you the best of luck with everything!! <3
