In My Letterbox

letterbox: kodak
Katie is me...if I'm in trouble or applying for a job, It's Katrina, which is my full name.
If you're my family or childhood friend, it's Katie. Otherwise Kate or Kat or Kitkat or K-k-k-kaaaaatie!
I know, it's a bit complicated, but then, so am I.

Dear Summer Vacation,
Could you please be a doll and get your rear in gear? I mean, the weather has been beautiful and all lately, but I am itching for July when I get to take a couple mini-breaks and will actually have some time to be outside and enjoy it all. I am dreaming of skirts, sandals, campfires, dune hikes, Vermont, concerts, my sister, fish n' chips on the cape, salt water in my hair, naps in the sunshine, the smell of pine, cold beer, and grilled food. I trust that you will not disappoint.

Dear Plaid,
You really are the bees knees and I would love to use you in a bunch of vintage inspired sewing projects but you are also wreaking havoc on my nerves and are a real sonofagun to work with...and I am only attempting a pillow with nice right angle seams. Or at least they are supposed to look that way so please start behaving yourself or you're going to get thrown out and banned from this sewing room, ya here?!

Dear Brain,
I know you were kind of on overload last month but it's time to get your you-know-what together and focus again. I know...it kind of stinks sometimes, this whole focus and get stuff accomplished thang, but it has it's rewards I promise. I've been trying to work on new embroidery patterns and blog posts and recipes but I need your cooperation ok? OKthanks!

Dear trusty old French Press,
I just wanted to say that I love you. You + Me = For Always.
You've been a real trooper in helping my brain out (see above notice) and I am forever grateful.

Dear Errands,
Don't get your panties in a bunch—I'm on my way now, I swear!

in my letterbox:

letterbox: valentine

dear valentine's,
i've been such a bad crafty blogger not putting up any sweetly themed items but, well, i've just always had a hard time getting into this holiday since, apart from married life, i usually spent it very much alone and listening to ani difranco. no offense to all your pink frosting, paper lace, dark chocolate, and dear little garland (seriously, i'm a big fan of the trappings) but i think i still need some time to come around and make nice...just be patient with me ok?

dear chicago,
I CAN'T WAIT TO BE TOGETHER AGAIN! we're going to have a great visit together just like old times and i can't wait to introduce you to my husband as we scout out some neighborhoods this coming weekend because i think you're really going to like each other. yes, you heard me right: i said scouting neighborhoods. you are at the top of our "places we'd consider making a permanent move to now that our post-layoff/get back on our feet and move back home to save money time is seriously wearing out its welcome" list. so get your job offers in a row and let us know what's happening as we are so ready to start building our life together forealsies!!!

dear zoƫ and frankie,
you two felines are loved beyond all reason but if you continue to steal spools of thread and bound across my unconscious body several times in a row like acrobatic chimpanzees at 6am for the pure joy of seeing how far you can push the limits, i will be tempted to introduce you to something i like to call "mommy's dirt list." you have been warned little ones, you have been warned.

dear purple thread,
where are the bleepity bleep are you these days? i neeeeeed you!

dear made by rae lickety split bag pattern: i've seen you making the rounds on the internets and we've been making eyes at each other for quite some time, don't deny it. then you showed up on my lovely friend emily's blog looking all cute in your bright little prints and i knew we had to be together at last. you are awesome. there, i said it. and pretty soon i'll post you here for everyone to see. um, once i find that purple thread...

in my letterbox

letters

dear new england,
what is your aversion to properly posted street signs? is there something morally wrong with marking the cross street in such a way that is visible to drivers? also, why do most drivers in this part of the country seem to be sadists?

dear mcdonald's,
thank you for always being there when i need you. i know you're someone my mom warned me about and we shouldn't be seen together too often, but sometimes, well, your warm salty goodness fills this void in my heart when everything else in my day is going wrong. but let's keep this on the dl, k? mmmk, thanks.

dear husband,
thank you for surprising me with roses because i got lost in boston twice today even though you are the one you had to work several hours late at the office and should be the one getting props for providing a roof over our heads while i figure out what the heck it is i want to do when i grow up. you're my favorite.

dear tomorrow,
i have high hopes that we are going to get along splendidly and i am hoping you have some good news to bring my way. i'll be waiting patiently and can't wait to meet you.

always, kat
