little acorns for little folks

i'm working on this set of felted acorns for my mom's Montessori classroom to be used as a matching/organizing activity for her 3 and 4 year olds...three pairs done and three pairs to go! the rest will be in other natural tones of green and brown and they are actually really easy to make, ok minus the little pinpricks i've managed to give myself in the process...but it will be worth it to know something i've made is a cherished item for the kids to learn and play with.

i've visited her classroom so many times over the years to read to the kids or help out with different projects from babysitting all the class pets, helping with field trips, making real green eggs and ham on dr. suess' birthday, to helping my mom set up faux dinosaur digs and garden plots for them! having been a montessori kid myself, it's fun to see and hear about the things they are learning and experiencing at school with my own mother as their teacher. i might be biased, but she's pretty much the best montessori teacher in michigan at least! her kids grow up and always remember her devotion and creativity so it's an honor to have some of my work being used in her classroom!

Those are so cute! I don't remember if I already said this before, if you already mentioned the Montessori thing before, but my last job was at one as an assistant teacher for preschool. :)

Those acorns are so cute!!! I wonder what the Montessori method teaches two year olds? I think I've been skipping steps. We've been trying to sort colors already. This is great inspiration. Now, I want to make some.
