going off the grid...
i just got a library card for our little local library and immediately checked out a stack of audiobooks. it is one of the few ways i can find time to enjoy a book while the shop is going through it's growth spurts as all my "spare" time is devoted to sewing and embroidery for the shop...actually all my time is, what am i saying?! it's also a refreshing change to just sitting and stitching in front of the ole tellie.
when it comes to "real" books, i love a good biography or historical piece but when it comes to audiobooks i'm looking for something a bit lighter and with a quicker pace that does not require all my brain power. steve berry is therefore perfect on audio as i seem to just breeze through my work while being completely entertained! i also got the next book in ariana franklin's medieval csi-type series and the first book in the outlander series....it's um, 28 disks, gulp! i hope i can manage it on audio as i'm really excited to read them at earthbound inspiration's suggestion. i do have some intricate custom requests in right now and these should definitely help me work my way through the to-do list!
so, between that and my mom visiting from my home state of michigan (say yah to the up, eh?!), posts are going to be a bit sparse here this week but i promise i'll be back in full force as soon as i can! i got some free museum passes from the library as well so now i can afford to take her to my favorite museum in the whole wide world, the isabella stewart gardner museum! and hey, here's hoping she brought lots of cashola to take her little girl out to eat in boston's north end ;)

I began sewing as an adult on Saturday. I have been sort of scared of the machines for a little while. Now, I really love it. I'd love to find more beautiful material and patterns to create something my son car wear. I love to embroider and crochet already. Listening to books on tape is such a great idea! I'll have to look into them. Thanks for sharing!
yay I hope you love Outlander - what am I saying I KNOW you'll love Outlander - since its 28 discs I'm assuming its the unabridged one, I've heard that is important....geez, I really HOPE at 28 discs it is unabridged. They are long, but once you get into them you thank goodness for every single sentence I promise!
enjoy your visit and the library!
I love audio books when my husand and I are on a long road trip (also cuts down on the arguments!)
congrats mama amethyst! i learned to sew when i was very young and only picked it up again a few years ago. so glad i did as it can be both relaxing and rewarding. i wish i was better at clothing though, if you get any tips i would love to hear them!
dylan, the librarian that checked my books out for me was raving about outlander too! i saw the sequels on the shelf and they are even bigger...intimidating now but i'm sure i will be glad for it later when i am craving more!
thank you considerthelillies! :)
