things you might not have known about me...just scroll down

it has been a drizzly and cold day here but i'm making some curry tonight which should warm us right up! my day has also been brightened by receiving this lovely little award from fellow blogger christina over at considerthecoffee! besides making pretty jewelry and cozy home decor items for her etsy shops, she also keeps a great blog which i highly recommend—it's one of my personal favorites and besides, she's got great background wallpaper :D

thank you christina!!

now my task as recipient is to share seven things you might not have known about me and to pick seven new blogs to honor for their general fabulousness and devotion to creative blogging.

first, here are the seven bloggers i've chosen to pass this on to as i love reading each of these blogs and admire their creations:

dirksen dabbles
talk2thetrees
earthbound inspiration
our hartbeat
emmasgemsvintage
teresa's textile inspiration
maureen cracknell handmade

if you're on this list, just copy and paste the image and pass it on to seven more bloggers
of your choice, while sharing seven tidbits about your own wonderful self.
you can even put the award on your sidebar to let everyone know just how fabulous you are.

and as it was told to me...if you accept, great, but if you don't want to do it,
that's completely ok too—i won't take offense and will still read your blog! :)

ok, and now the scary part, haha, sharing time for me:

(a photo i took later on in college of one of our cows)

1. when i was growing up i my usual chore was to feed the goats, named lucifer and angel. but one night my parents went out together and so i also had to go feed the cows, chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, iguana, etc. well, everything was going fine until i went to fetch water for the cows and, apparently, left the gate open. ole bessie took note and when i came back with the hose to fill up the water tank there was NO BESSIE IN SIGHT! so cut to me running down our dirt road after her in a complete panic because cows can hustle! some neighbor kids were just standing in their drive way laughing (good belly laughs you know) and there was no one to help me! somehow though i managed to get Bessie to run back in the opposite direction and coral her into our hay field where she was quite happy to sit and munch on our as yet uncut harvest of organic alfalfa hay.
To this day whenever an animal gets loose in our small farming community, the local police still check my parents house first...

2. i have always been a picky eater and actually insisted on ordering hamburgers at chinese restaurants as a kid, what a twit kid huh?! haha, but i have come a long way; i eat all kinds of different cuisines now and in just the past couple years have tried and liked mustard, onions, and pepper (though not necessarily just those three together!)

(me and a fellow intern on the monologue stage...it is all very small in real life!)

(one of the glory filled intern tasks—posing for test shots to check lighting)

3. i spent an extra semester in college living in a closet in new york city and working as an intern for nbc's saturday night live and conan o'brien shows as well as the Whitney museum. SNL fed us very well, i hung christmas ornaments on alec baldwin for a shoot, and almost spilled several boxes of pizza on mike myers one night, but the whitney was actually my favorite because i'm an art history student at heart and all that showbiz stuff was a little bit much for the likes of me!

4. i am a skim milk ADDICT. i love it, i need it, don't have me over unless you have it in your pantry ;)

5. i played the violin for 8 years from 5th grade through high school and recently got it restrung for my birthday so i hope to be playing again soon! so far, i'm still just doing scales and the cats are NOT thrilled.

(shirt from northwest shirts on etsy which i got my fiance for christmas...
like the item description says, if you've seen the show you know how completely AWESOME this shirt is.
If you haven't seen it, it's not going to make one bit of sense.)

6. when my fiance and i were first dating i made fun of him (ok i made fun of him a lot) for watching the spiffy new version of battlestar galactica. i had no idea what it was and usually asked him if we were going to be seeing eachother or if he was going to stay home and watch "battleship spaceman." but then we decided we actually really liked eachother and the relationship was a serious one and so i tried watching it to share in his interests and, um, I LOVE IT! there was i time i would have been too mortified to say that but no longer, it is one of the best shows on television EVER! SO SAY WE ALL!

7. this one may not be such a secret anymore, especially considering what i just divulged in number six, but, i am a complete and hopeless NERD (insert the sound of shock, awe, and jaws dropping on the floorboards here), complete with inhaler, books, and hermit-like social awareness.

and thanks for reading if you made it this far, you are either bored or my new best friend ;)

Thank you so much for the honorable mention!

I have a couple thing:

First, that story of you chasing the cow is priceless. I feel like everyone should have a story like that...maybe we can scheme on how to make this a reality.

Second, that photo of you with the gray testing strips is awesome. Really...you look beautiful in a very unusual way.

That's all!

o that cow...that %$#@ing cow! haha, it has always been a good story to tell but definitely a scary experience when i was in the middle of it. and thank you for the compliment on the photo, it made my day!

cabin+cub, i can't lie, snl was very cool and sometimes seems so surreal to me even now but i do have a whole lot of juicy stories from that time! i saw your giveaway and entered straight away—such neat bookplates that i might have to save up and buy some even if i don't win!

maureencracknell—headed over to your blog now, it is indeed one of my favorites!
